The Project has begun!

I know we are starting a little later than planned but we officially had people on site on Monday October 25, 2010 and today, the 28th, they began to dig! Look at the slideshow pictures of the recent activities this week!

Keep those fingers crossed that snow and freezing temperatures stay away for a little while longer! And, remember, now that it has begun, it is a hard hat area and only limited people are allowed in, not patrons or staff. The Library Manager has been given clearance and can take pictures etc. so follow our virtual tour here as we unveil the work and the new building erection!

We are hoping completion will be early March 2011....

How exciting for our library and community! :-)

Demo is done and the project should begin soon!

I hope you have been following the slide show to the right! Lots of pictures of the demo have been added!

Soon, the project should begin and we are very excited! No one is allowed to park or turn around in the library driveway now as there are lots of nails and other debris there.

Thank you all for bearing with us during the demo phase!!!

In two weeks the next section of the library will be coming off and we will close the library on Saturday August 28 to be able to do that.

Fire Department Training Night #4

Last night we had the privilege of the Morrisville Fire Department bringing in the Eaton Fire Department to do training drills on the program room. I am glad that we can provide our local area fire departments with a real facility to practice with. Granted we did not use the smoke machine, they still had to find the people inside and do roof ventilation drills etc. They are hoping to return another time or two with area fire departments to train some more. A few new pics are on our slideshow of the training last night. Be sure to click the slideshow to the right for the pictures.

Fire Department Training Part 3

Well to all who walked through the village last night, it looked like the back of the library was on fire. I can assure you that it was not!!! It was a smoke machine the fire department used to recreate the scene of a fire. Fake walls were created inside the program room and dummies (fake people) were placed and the place was "smoked" up so the fire fighters could practice getting an adult and child out. Three different groups of fire fighters from Morrisville and Munnsville tried this drill and succeeded.

We apologize to anyone who assumed we had lit the library on fire. Never is that, nor will that ever be our intention. No flames will be brought to the library in the demolition process.

Please see the pictures on the slideshow of last night's training. (Click on the "click here to see" phrase under the word "slideshow" to your right on this page).

Please note: weather permitting, the fire department will be doing this drill again with another area fire company next Tuesday (July 27). We will be closing the library at 7pm if they do utilize the program room for another night of drill practice. Watch our facebook and website, call the library or watch for notes posted around the library to confirm whether or not we do indeed close.

Fire Department Training Night #2

Last night, the Morrisville Fire Department did another training on the program room. They did roof ventilation drills and made another access point using an existing window. They did more wall and ceiling drills as well. Below are a few pics of the soon to be disappearing room.

They will be back next week to do more roof training. Stay tuned.... and for all the pictures of last night's training, click on our flickr.com link on the right hand side of this page.
